NPB has announced the participating players for this year’s All-Star Games in Osaka and Yokohama. Each team will have 30 players, with players determined by fan vote, player vote, and manager selection. The managers for the All-Star Game are the managers of the previous season’s pennant winners, which in Japan means the team that finished the regular season with the best record. For the Central League, that means Shinnosuke Abe of the Yomiuri Giants, and for the Pacific League, Hiroki Kokubo of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. The remainder of the coaching staff consists of the managers from the 2nd and 3rd place teams.
Central League
Joining Abe are Kyuji Fujikawa of the Hanshin Tigers and Daisuke Miura of the Yokohama DeNA BayStars. The Swallows, the only CL team without a representative in the fan and player votes, will be represented by veteran reliever Taichi Ishiyama—who notably struck out Shohei Ohtani in the 2013 All-Star Game.

Hanshin leads the way with 8 total players, followed by the Giants, Buffaloes, and Lions, each with 7. Of the 60 total players, 31 are All-Stars for the first time. With so many fresh faces this year, and two games in total, there will be plenty of opportunities to shine on the national stage. Who are you excited to see?
The final players, one for each league, will be decided by fans through the 'Plus One Vote.' Voting runs from July 8th to July 14th, with the winning players announced on July 16th. Fans will also vote for the players who will appear in the Home Run Derby.
カナダからおはようございます。日本の野球が大好きです!😊
As my userpic probably gives away, I'm a fan of the Fighters. Watching and voting this year, it seemed like there was a big push at the end for Buffaloes players. Thought I won't complain, last year for the game at Es Con Fighters fans stuffed the ballot box pretty hard. And in the end being All-Star Starter didn't turn out to be the sort of memorable evening for Sachiya Yamasaki that fans hoped. 😄
This year I was torn between Imai and Miyagi for starter. I like Imai more, but glad Miyagi got the nod. Glad to see Tatsu-kun get his first AS selection! I expected Kitayama, but it's nice to see another young Fighters arm in the mix.
I figured on Reyes, Kiyomiya, and Mannami, too. Franmil continues his long game to becoming the first Dominican-born mayor of Sapporo (I joke, but the fans LOVE him there). Glad to see so many Lions on the team, too. I'm not a Lions fan, but I have fondness for them, and I'm glad to see them turn it around this year. Plus, I hope they'll feast on Buffaloes and Hawks all season. ⚾
Very nice cover pic! Now I have a question:
I’m planning a trip to Japan this November, and I’d love to have an immersive baseball experience.
Where should I go, and which game would you recommend I watch?
